“Keeping up with Communication”

The Goal is to establish a wellness and prevention program for individuals with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers with a focus on maintenance of communication skills.

Scope of Program:

1.)     The program will provide a relaxed, educational, and supportive environment for both the individual with Parkinson’s disease and their caregiver(s) to practice their communication skills.

2.)     General knowledge of communication skills will be discussed.

3.)     Functional activities to reinforce communication skills will be discussed, modeled, and performed.

4.)     Attendees of program will be expected to perform activities individually, with their peers, and with their caregivers.

5.)     Areas of communication covered include: voice, speech, body language, and breath support.

6.)     Instruction will be provided by a qualified Speech-Language Pathologist.
