Recently Diagnosed Support Group
In February 2010, PFNCA introduced a support group program for those who
have been recently diagnosed, their carepartners and family members. Parkinson's patients who have been diagnosed within the past 18 months of each session should consider participating in the program.
Group members, both Parkinson's patients and their carepartners, that attend
will learn about living with Parkinson's disease, coping methods, what the
Foundation has to offer, and numerous other topics important to living a
fulfilling life with Parkinson's disease. Each recently diagnosed support group
session has for 8 bi-weekly meetings.
Based on the success of the first session, a second session opened in late
Spring/early Summer 2010. The third session met
throughout the Fall and early Winter. The fourth session is open and needs more participants to start.
